Vortex Bull Terriers ~ New Zealand

The Vortex Crew is very lucky to live in a beautiful harbour side location near the small town of Katikati, in the Bay of Plenty.  Nick and I grew up here and love all that our area has to offer, the beach, the bush and our own little piece of paradise. I spend most of my spare time doing “dog stuff” in one way, shape or form.  An ideal day for me is chilling at home with the bullies although with life being exceptionally busy we just don’t get to do enough of it.  Nick is an engineer and runs his engineering shop, automotive and auto-electrical businesses with his brother, and when he isn’t playing with the dogs he enjoys military vehicles, heavy machinery and racing cars! – wonder whose hobby costs the most!  I spend my “work time” helping out the family business which grows, packs and coolstores kiwifruit and avocados on our 100 acre rural property.

I fell in love with bullies in 1996, when we became the proud owners of Duffy, Ch Boromir Cyberpunk.  Along with Duffy, came (what I consider will be) a life long friendship with Hyde and Deane Holland who have been very instrumental in growing our bully family.    When Duff was a youngster we were encouraged to take him to a ribbon show where he won his very first ribbon and I was bitten by the showing bug.  You can find out more about our beloved Duff here.  Bullies can become a bit of an addiction and before very long we decided that one just wasn’t enough!  Two soon became three and well you know how things can snowball.

I am currently studying towards my Terrier Champ license and have really enjoyed the judging appointments I have accepted to date.  A highlight for me was judging my first “Bully” show in April 2008.  Our bull terrier journey so far has been amazing and we are fortunate to co-own some stunning bullies and to have met some truly amazing people both in NZ and overseas – yes, you know who you are!
